These are general life-stage ranges for dogs from the AKC and Hill's; no study gives a separate figure for the Dobermann. Individual dogs vary, and a sudden change in how much your dog sleeps is worth mentioning to your vet.

Exercise needs

PDSA recommends a minimum of two hours a day, spread across the day rather than in one go, and The Royal Kennel Club lists more than two hours. Combine walks with running, obedience and scent games. Their short coat gives little protection in cold weather, so a coat can help in winter.

Potty training

Dobermann puppies are bright and usually learn quickly with a clear routine. Take them out after waking, eating and play, use the same spot, and reward straight away.

They are sensitive dogs, so calm consistency works far better than corrections. Short, regular trips beat long waits outside.

Feeding

Use a large-breed puppy food for controlled growth, three to four meals a day early on and two meals for adults. Keep the dog lean and muscular rather than heavy.

PDSA lists bloat (GDV) among the conditions Dobermanns can develop. The AKC notes that feeding two meals a day rather than one lowers the risk, and slow feeders help fast eaters. Keep strenuous exercise away from meals and treat a swollen belly with unproductive retching as an emergency.
