Papillon: size, sleep, exercise and care
The Papillon is a dainty toy spaniel of about 20–28 cm and 2.3–4.5 kg (AKC), named for its butterfly-shaped ears. It is alert, lively and quick to learn, and SKK notes it often lives a long life, with 15 years not unusual.

These are general life-stage ranges for dogs from the AKC and Hill's Pet Nutrition; no kennel club publishes sleep figures for the Papillon specifically. Papillons love being where things happen, so a puppy may resist naps; a quiet crate or pen in a calmer room helps it get the rest it needs.
Exercise needs
The Royal Kennel Club puts the Papillon in its "up to 30 minutes a day" band, but SKK describes it as a breed that likes to work, and many Papillons excel at agility and obedience. Short walks plus training games keep it content. SKK mentions some loose kneecaps in the breed, so avoid lots of jumping off furniture.
Potty training
Papillons are clever and learn routines quickly, but their tiny bladders mean frequent breaks, and the AKC notes that toy breeds often need extra patience before they are fully reliable. Take the puppy out after sleep, meals, drinks and play, and supervise closely indoors.
An indoor pad spot can help on cold or wet days. A puppy potty schedule helps you keep the intervals right for your puppy's age.

Feeding
Young toy puppies can run low on blood sugar if meals are far apart, especially when cold, stressed or very active. Give several small meals a day and call your vet if the puppy seems weak or wobbly.
Adults usually do well on two measured meals. At only a few kilos, treats from the table add up quickly.
